5 INTERESTING UNKNOWN FACTS:

Mehra was an avid swimmer in his younger days. He was initially selected as part of the Indian contingent for the 1982 Asian Games; however, he could not pass the final round of the selection process.

After graduating from college, Mehra started off his career as a Vacuum Cleaner salesman with Eureka Forbes.

In the year 1986, Mehra laid the foundation of Flicks Motion Picture Company Private Limited, an ad filmmaking company. During this time, he directed a number of domestic and International ad films for many notable brands, including Coke, Pepsi, Toyota, American Express, BPL, etc.

Mehra’s documentary film, Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, was premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.

His struggles were, however, short-lived as his second movie, Rang De Basanti (2006), emerged a blockbuster. The movie even fetched him the National Award for Best Director. In addition, it was officially chosen as India’s entry into the Oscars.

5 FAMOUS QUOTES:

You don`t have to get so serious about these things. Appreciation is always very good no matter where they came from. Today here, it came from film journalists.

Unfortunately, a lot of awards today are being sponsored by big companies and TV channels, so somewhere down the line, they have been muscled down to a TV show rather than purely an award function.

I tell the story of the land I come from and which I understand thoroughly like about Milkha Singh, Bhagat Singh, Mirzya etc but now that I have lived in Mumbai for some years and did research for the last three years on this script that I have dared to go ahead and make the film (Mere Pyare Pradhan Mantri).

The film (Mere Pyare Pradhan Mantri) is about an eight-year-old boy, Kanhaiya, who desires to make a toilet for his mother.

This film’s (Mirzya) subject wasn’t an easy one to tackle. It was a new narrative altogether. But now that we are past the release, I feel more empowered. When I speak of the nature of this film, it has made me a stronger person. I chose to follow the path my instinct told me to.

5 MOST POPULAR DIALOGUES:
