Movie - Bhavesh Joshi Superhero
Director - Vikramaditya Motwane
Rating - 2.5/5

The film starring Harshvardhan Kapoor promises a lot of stuff but fails to live up to the expectations of whatever it takes. Dealing with corruption, manipulation and more, it tells the story of Sikandar Khanna who along with his friends - Bhavesh Joshi (Painyuli) and Rajat (Varma) take on the anti-corruption movement in their stride and work towards motivating the youth to do the same.

But what can the youth do in a society rampant with powerful people ruling the law? The film tries really hard to deal with the situation of showcasing many flaws with the society all at once. That leads to a hotchpotch of ideas where the audience is at a loss as to what is happening! Vikramaditya Motwane makes use of the adage - the power of youth to bring about a change - yet the film fails on many points. Harshvardhan Kapoor does his best to make use of his serious appearance and tries to take the film on his shoulders. But it is too much to take.

What is most appealing about the film is the fact that it gives you a glimpse of both the past and the future - utopia, and dystopia. Sikandar and his friends encounter the greedy hood Kamat who controls the water supply in Mumbai. The trio tries their best to deal with the problems that come in with the media and the mafia nexus. However, the problem lies in the fact that too much is being packed into one single movie. Vikramaditya is all for the youth and the movie focuses on the same too. But maybe, with a bit of more promotion and a little less competition with the Marvel and DC superheroes (aka excess of martial arts), Bhavesh Joshi Superhero could have been more than just an action thriller on social issues.

Bhavesh Joshi is not yet a superhero. While Motwane’s blueprint is derivative (you will think Kick Ass and Arrow), his thoughts and setting are localised enough to make this a convincing character within the genre. But the film’s flaw is that it’s trying to say too much and doing so at such a painful pace that much of a good intention is lost in execution. Source : Visit site for more
All said and done, when you’ve a good intent to make a film you also need a strong story to back it. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero lacks everything from script to solid performances and hence this son-of-Kapoor has wait more for his first hit. Source : Visit site for more
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero have been a more scintillating action film had it not been so excruciatingly elongated? Difficult to vouch for that because in its bid to be dark, cool and edgy, it cannot shrug off its air of puerility. If not pure bunkum, it strays dangerously close, like Icarus, to slipping off its orbit completely. It returns to course occasionally but not often enough to steady its narrative arc.One thing is for sure, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero isn't likely to be the super-boost that the doctor has ordered for the career of Harshvardhan Kapoor Source : Visit site for more
Bhavesh Joshi Superhero needs to be appreciated for what it sets out to do – stirring the common man out of apathy by channelising our anger. It doesn’t entirely succeed, but Vikramaditya Motwane’s take on the superhero genre is worth a look. Source : Visit site for more
