The first thing you notice about the trailer of the Ashwiny Iyer Tiwary directed Bareilly Ki Barfi is not Ayushmann Khurrana or Kriti Sanon – it’s the music. Absolutely infectious, and groovy AF, it`s been put together by a number of Bollywood composers such as Tanishk Baghchi, Tanishk & Vayu, Arko, and Samira Koppikar. While the film looks promising from the trailer, the music is a sure hit.
The barfi is Kriti Sanon, a break-dancing, cigarette smoking, unapologetic badass from the small town of Bareilly, who loves intimidating the annoying, undeserving suitors arranged by her parents. Khurrana plays the owner of a printing press, with Rajkummar Rao as his employee. How do the three get caught up in each other’s story? Before you start getting judgemental about it, here’s why we all should watch it on 18th August itself!
Storyline:The trailer of the film gives us the taste of a perfect recipe including ingredients ranging from comedy to romance. If it`s hard to ignore Kriti`s sassiness, Rajkummar`s transformation only piques interest. Will Bitti fall for Pritam? Or will Chirag manage to tell Bitti about his feelings? Well, we cannot wait to find the answer.
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari:If her husband made a blockbuster like Dangal ( who’s btw, also the writer of this movie) she also has a film in the offing. Bollywood is ready for another female filmmaker who is set to bring a slice-of-life romantic comedy with Bareilly Ki Barfi. And the film looks every bit interesting. Remember her last film, Nil Battey Sannata?
Rajkummar Rao: He can play any role with ease, Rao`s role in Bareilly Ki Barfi looks nothing less than spectacular. If you have seen Queen, you know what we are talking about. Rajkummar Rao plays Pritam Vidrohi, a character that has left us wondering as to what his profession is. Vidrohi, the author of the book ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, is seen selling sarees in the film.
Kriti Sanon: We have seen her play the girl next door many a times in films, but Bareilly Ki Barfi promises to bring out something different. Kriti essays the role of a small towner who is on the lookout for an author of the book Bareilly Ki Barfi, after it strikes a chord with her and she begins believing that the author is the only person who understands her. And that he would make for her perfect groom.
Ayushmann Khurrana:But there is a catch. She has an admirer in Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana). A love struck boy who is madly in love with Bitti. Chirag owns a printing press, and therefore, knows the author of Bareilly Ki Barfi, Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao). Chirag tries his best to make Bitti fall for him as he asks Pritam to break her heart so he could mend it. And in the process, Bitti would fall in love with Chirag once Pritam broke her heart. But will it be that easy?
With Khans & Kapoors failing over the box office, will ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ be that one film that has the storyline as the ‘Hero’ in the film, or the quirky chemistry of Kriti, Ayushmann & Rajkumar that would win the audience’s hearts, is yet to be seen. What we can say for sure is, looks like this movie is gonna be a fultoopaisa-wasool entertainer!
