The role of Vidya Balan’s character Sulochana as a dutiful, shy perfect wife yet an intelligent woman came as a mirror to the women in real life in the movie Tumhari Sulu. Vidya, out of duty explored the nuances of a homemaker’s life and presented it in front of the audiences at a radio station with her ace acting skills. She emerged as someone who can prove herself own among the star-studded industry. She essayed the role of a 35-year-old widow Jaya in the movie who gives herself another chance and meets Irrfan aka free-spirited Yogi during her quest for love. Her role in the Tanuja Chandra film Take off fetched her positive reviews from across the country. Also, she joined the league of actors who preferred going de-glam in 2017 and sported a no-makeup look onscreen.
