The Bollywood superstar was recently listed amongst the winners of National Film Awards 2018 as she won the Best Actress Award for her movie ‘MOM’. The legendary actress was born on 13 August 1963 and took her last breath on 24 February 2018. Sridevi has also produced various Tamil films.

Mom(2017)-



The movie is a crime thriller film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna, Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui along with Sridevi helmed by Ravi Udyawar. It was based on the mother-daughter relation and how a mother avenges her daughter who was gang-raped. The movie touches the emotional string of not only women but also men. The movie was marked as Sridevi’s 300th movie and was one amongst the best films of the year. It received two awards for Best actress to Sridevi and Best Background Score to A.R.Rahman at the 65th National Film Awards. The film also received 6 nominations at the 63rd Filmfare Awards which includes Best Actress and Best Actress (Critics) for Sridevi and Best Supporting Actor for Siddiqui.


English Vinglish(2012)



The movie is a comedy-drama film that stars Sridevi, Mehdi Nebbou, Priya Anand and Adil Hussain. It was a return of the star in the Bollywood industry after her 15 years long break. The movie revolves around the life of a woman, Shashi who enrolls herself in an English-speaking course so that her husband and daughter stop mocking her for the lack of English skills. The movie was a blockbuster and had a massive box- office collection of 199.55 crore INR. The director won the award for Best Debut Director of the year in all the platforms including Filmfare.


Mr. India(1987)-



The movie is a science fiction thriller film starring Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Satish Kaushik, Amrish Puri and Annu Kapoor. It was amongst the highest grossing movie in India and has some of the most remarkable elements like Sridevi’s ‘Hawa Hawai’ performance and some power packed dialogues like ‘Mogambo khush hua’! The story revolves around a man to finds a watch that makes him invisible and fights for justice. The movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur and was produced by Boney Kapoor.


Chandni(1989)-



The romantic musical drama was directed and produced by Yash Chopra. It stars Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, and Waheeda Rehman along with the lead Sridevi. The movie is about a girl who’s to be husband meets with an accident and gets paralyzed. After which she begins her life afresh and starts working. Meanwhile, her boss falls for her and both of them decide to marry. The twist comes when her fiancé returns to her life and she is stuck in a dilemma. The film received an award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 37th National Film Awards and was nominated in 10 categories at the 37th National Film Awards.

Sadma(1983)- 



The movie is a drama film starring Kamal Hassan and Sridevi in the lead roles. It is written, directed and cinematography by Balu Mahendra and is one of the finest films in Bollywood. The movie is about a girl Nehalata, who meets with a car accident and becomes mentally unstable. She gets rescued by the male lead after she ends up trapped in a brothel. The movie received three nominations at the 31st Filmfare Awards.


Sridevi’s death was one of the greatest losses that Bollywood has faced. The actress was a jewel of the industry and we can never find someone who can take her place.
