Neeraj Pandey`s anticipated film Aiyaary is supposedly in hot waters yet again. Subsequent to giving up the 25 January slot to maintain a strategic distance from a conflict with Padmaavat, the producers of Aiyaary pushed the release date to 9 February. But, Akshay Kumar`s Padmanalso got deferred to 9 February which implies that both the movies will release together.
The defence ministry needs to review Aiyaary before it hits the screens on 9 February, because of which its accreditation procedure is on hold. The Neeraj Pandey directorial is apparently stuck for clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
`Aiyaary` is a thriller that rotates around a senior Army officer played by Manoj Bajpayee and his protégé depicted by Sidharth Malhotra, who create ideological contrasts. Close sources of the film uncovered that since it has Indian Army as the background, authorities from the Ministry of Defence needed to watch the film before its certification. The film was screened for the defence personnel and the Revising Committee in Delhi on Saturday. There are bits of gossip that while the Revising Committee individuals felt that it should have been passed with a U/A certificate, the ministry felt it required a couple of cuts before release.
According to a source, "The Ministry of Defence watched `Aiyaary` on Saturday noon. Multiple scenes have been a point of debate and the film`s team has been asked to modify the objectionable parts. The body however is being tight-lipped about the content of the scenes."
"There`s not much time left for the film`s release. It will take a day for the makers to make the changes that have been asked for. Only if everything goes smoothly and on time, can they expect the certificate to reach them by late on Tuesday evening or early on Wednesday morning. This can have an impact on the film`s international release because prints have to be dispatched and that can`t be done without attaching the final certificate," added the source.
Jayantilal Gada, one of the producers of the film, confirmed the developments and said, "We are yet to get a written communication about the changes that we are expected to incorporate in the film. So, we don`t yet have clarity on whether the film can release on the scheduled date or not."
The film also stars Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra in significant roles.
