Probably the main reason you would want to watch Dilwale is the sparkling chemistry between the iconic pair, Shah Rukh Khan, and Kajol. The film has very little to offer in terms of variety and novelty, but it does give you the much-needed breath of fresh air.
Kajol is seen again on screen after a sabbatical and she is fresh as ever. Since their love story in the film is more in flashbacks and then zooming in on the present, you do get to compare them that way. Add to the fact that the title of the film is the first word from their most popular film – Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge – and you know the film is expected to rest on them.
It is basically old wine in the same old bottle, offering very little in terms of a new way of depicting romance. SRK and Kajol are expected to do what they did 20 years ago through their romance. The song ‘Gerua’ is a perfect example of that – the lead pair dancing in exotic locations. Rohit Shetty knows what entertains the audience and what can get him cash ringing in at the box office and he follows the magic. Dilwale lives up to the same in a haphazard manner. That is why one would expect SRK-Kajol fans to queue up at the ticket counters. Well, if they are your thing, Dilwale might be giving you the kick in terms of the old school romance.
