Madhureeta Anand’s upcoming directorial debut is based on Sujit Saraf’s novel – The confessions of Sultan Daku. The movie will go on floor in April 2018 and Randeep Hooda has been roped in to play the lead role.

After playing real life characters in biopics like ‘Main Aur Charles’ and ‘Sarabjit’, he is geared up to portray the role of ‘Sultana’. Randeep Hooda’s upcoming period drama movie is based on the novel and the novel is about the swashbuckling criminal career of Sultan Daku. Sultana was undisputedly the most notorious dacoit in modern India’s history. He belonged to the bhantu clan of criminals and terrorized the United Provinces (Uttar Pradesh) in 1920. The movie will also show his love for his horse Chetak.

The film is being produced by Rahul Mitra and he stated, “The film will be shot in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh and Randeep, who is a champion horseman and rider, will film the extensive action and racing sequences in Kazakistan, where real locations will pass off as North India from the `20s."

"The approach to the film will not be dark and gory and more like a superhero-drama, where Robin Hood Randeep`s character takes from the rich and gives to the poor as India fights for freedom," Mittra added.

Sultana was a handsome dacoit and named his horse “Chetak” after Maharana Pratap’s horse which showed his love for chivalry. He was a daku but did operate on a code of honour.

Randeep Hooda was last seen as a coach in the film Sultan in 2016 which was a blockbuster hit! He is known for movies like “Highway” and “Sarabjit” where you can notice how much he has given to portray the role he was asked to play. It will be amazing to see him to done a character of daku.
