I wonder if there is anyone who has watched Haathi Mere Saathi and not shed buckets of tears! This cult classic film which showed the real emotions of friendships and companionship between a orphan and 4 elephants. The role of the orphan was played by none other than Late Rajesh Khanna. Haathi Mere Saathi was a big hit back then!

If rumors are to be true, actor Rana Daggubati has been roped in to play the lead in the trilingual remake of the film Haathi Mere Saathi. It is announced that the new film will be a tribute to the classic counterpart. Rana is very excited about this new project, “There`s a very exciting physical language to the character I`m playing in `Haathi Mere Saathi`, something entirely different from what I`ve done in the past. I`ve always wanted to be a part of content that can travel across the country, and am very happy that Trinity is backing cinema of this genre.”

"It`s a rare story about the relevance of nature in our lives, narrated through a wonderful relationship between man and elephant. This story is definitely another of those rare challenges I`m beginning to enjoy being a part off. Prabhu Solomon passion for nature and elephants makes him probably the finest craftsman in the country who can handle a story like this," he added.

Rana Daggubati was last seen in Baahubali: The Conclusion as the antagonist. Bhallaladeva. Baby was his last Hindi film. Rana has gradually made his presence feel in Bollywood as well. It all started with Dum Maaro Dum, and in an instance he became the heartthrob for women all over. Now, with Haathi Mere Saathi, we might see the emotional side of him for which we are all very excited.

Haathi Mere Saathi will be shot in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. Most of it’s filming will take place in Thailand and then various locations in India. It is slated to hit the theatres in Diwali next year!
