Ashutosh Gowarikar’s ‘Panipat’ got its first teaser poster released on twitter by the star cast of the epic period movie. ‘Panipat’ teaser poster and the project were announced on Wednesday. The film is based on the most eventful battle of the 18th century, the Third Battle of Panipat, where the Durranis of Afghanistan won. ‘Panipat’ features Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon in prominent roles. Ashutosh will be collaborating with Arjun and Kriti for the first time while he has worked with Sanjay Dutt way back in 1989 hit ‘Naam’. Ashutosh played a small role as a taxi driver in the film.

Arjun Kapoor is playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, the Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha army in the Third Battle of Panipat. Arjun took to twitter and shared the teaser poster along with the caption “Proud to bring the valour of the Maratha warriors to the big screen! Here’s the first Teaser Poster of #Panipat @agpplofficial #sunitagowariker @AshGowariker @visionworldfilm #rohitshelatkar@kritisanon @duttsanjay #PanipatTeaserPoster”.
Sanjay Dutt will be seen donning the role of Ahmad Shah Durrani/Abdali, who fought against Sadashiv Rao Bhau in the battle and was also the founder of the Durrani Empire.

In general, Ashutosh’s films are governed by strong personas. Besides Arjun and Sanjay’s character, the movie is sure to include many other powerful characters rather than just the lead actors. Gowarikar has done a thorough research and analysis for the making of this epic movie. 

The Third Battle of Panipat was fought in 1761, the Maratha Empire clashed with the invading Afghani forces under the leadership of Ahmad Shah Durrani. The film is slated to hit the theatres on 6th December 2019.
