Padman film is adapted from a short story from Akshay Kumar’s wife Twinkle Khanna’s book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Twinkle has also co-produced the film. This brings forth the taboo subjects in India like the menstrual cycle and sanitary napkins.

Pad Man opened at 10 crore net approx with better collections coming in the metros. The mass centers did not collect well which was expected. The difference between the opening of this film and Toilet Ek Prem Katha is the mass circuits like CI, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.

The first-day collection is decent and the concept has the potential of good growth over the weekend and then a holiday boost over the weekdays. The primary issue is the concept working with the family audience which the next few days running will tell.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Padmaavat is still going strong in theaters and what favoured the success of the film is un-necessary controversies and even arson, death threats, and vandalism. It would certainly be a considerable rival to Akshay Kumar’s PadMan for it`s still going huge in box-office!

Below are the opening day numbers of the Akshay Kumar content films over the last few years.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha - 11,34,00,000

Airlift - 11,12,00,000

Padman - 10,00,00,000 apprx

Baby - 7,84,00,000

Special 26 - 5,87,00,000 apprx
