Vikram Bhatt has been in the news for epic failures at the box office recently. Of course, his recently-released web series are something to watch out for. The man had given multiple hits in the early part of his career. His hit movies include Ghulam, Kasoor, Raaz and Awara Paagal Deewana. He experimented 3D technology with Haunted 3D.
However, many films of his, despite publicity, failed to make an impact. We take a look at 5 such Vikram Bhatt epic fails.
Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage(2002) –
The film seemed to come with high hopes since it brought back the hit Jodi of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel. However, the movie fell flat on its face at the box office, dashing everyone’s expectations. Despite the popularity of young romance marred by parental disapproval as a genre at the time, people found it hard to connect with.
This film was Emraan Hashmi’s debut movie. However, it failed to make an impact at the box office. The movie also starred Bipasha Basu and is said to have been based on the Hollywood flick State of Grace. Despite its failure at the box office, the music was a big hit then.
This movie is said to be based on the life of actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, with whom Vikram Bhatt had an extra-marital affair while he was married to Aditi Bhatt. Though he denied the same, the movie starring Ameesha Patel, Aftab Shivdasani and Esha Deol was a dud at the BO.
A supernatural thriller film, it was touted as Karisma Kapoor’s comeback film. But the movie failed to generate any curiosity among the audience and underperformed at the BO.
The phenomenal success of Raaz had led to high expectations from the film. It also starred Emraan Hashmi once again in the lead. Despite the social media publicity and the appreciation for the music score, the film could not garner money at the BO.
