The teaser of Manikarnika released this morning after a long delay and tonnes of controversy. The film took its own sweet time to complete and there have been continuous rumors doing the rounds about its direction, budget, changes in supporting cast and more. The recent news flash is that director Krish walked out of the film because of creative differences with Kangana and she has taken on the reins of the film, much like we see her taking the reins of the horse in the film. Sonu Sood, who played a key role in the film has also walked out of the film.

Nevertheless, despite all of these controversies surrounding Manikarnika, the teaser of the film is out which almost looks like a trailer. And yes, we do have the famous lines from the Hindi poem “Jhansi Ki Rani” by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan - Khub Ladi Mardaani, Wo Toh Jhansi Waali Rani Thi, in the voice of none other than Big B. The grand sets and the fight sequences are expected to make it a fun watch.

Manikarnika chronicles the life and times of Rani Laxmibai whose childhood name was Mani. She was one of the central figures of the 1857 War of Indian Independence against the British Empire. Battling personal tragedies including the death of her child and husband, Rani Laxmibai is a revered name in Indian history. Kangana had expressed her latent desire to play the fierce warrior queen in several interviews before she retired from acting to focus on filmmaking. Manikarnika is the first biopic on Rani Laxmibai.

It will finally release on January 25, 2019, after several delays. Even though reports surfaced that Kangana has directed many parts of the film and also reshot a few scenes, the official teaser shows Radha Krishna Jagarlamud aka Krish as the director.

All eyes are now on the trailer which is expected to release soon. The teaser of Manikarnika has come on Gandhi Jayanti, signifying a key aspect of Indian Independence. The lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi and we will get to see musical trio Shankar Ehsaan and Loy again after a hiatus composing the music of the film. Fingers crossed!!
