On 11th May 1998 operation Shakti was initiated. It was the second Indian nuclear test and this declared India as a full-fledged nuclear state!

Parmanu is based on Operation Shakti (Pokharan II). In this operation, a series of 5 nuclear bomb test explosion was conducted by India at the Indian Army’s Pokharan Test Range in May 1998.

This nuclear test was conducted under Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and the Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This test was declared success and thus marked India in a nuclear power country.

John Abraham stars as a military man and the movie revolve around these series of nuclear tests from his perspective. Diana Penty and Boman Irani play the other pivotal roles. It also stars Pavan Malhotra, Shaad Randhawa, Arjan Bajwa, Divya Dutta, Paras Arora, Mohan Kapoor and Vipin Gul. The initial release date was 8th of December. But due to box office clash with Padmaavat, John who is also the producer postponed it to 23rd February 2018.

He feels Parmanu is a very important film for the country and thus needs to be showcased in the right way. After Madras Café, another milestone in John’s career which showed the backdrop of the Sri Lankan Civil War, Parmanu-The Story Of Pokhran has all our attention.

We wish the best for this film and can’t wait to see the interpretation directed by Abhishek Sharma.
