2018 seems to be a year of mixtures. Some new, some remakes, some downright mediocre while some equally uplifting. While New Bollywood Songs continues to dominate, singles seem to have made a comeback with artists like Guru Randhawa, Gajendra Verma, and the sexy duo Zack Knight and Jasmin Walia. We have some interesting mix in our Bollywood New Songs List 2018.

So, What’s New?

Punjabi hip-hop and raps are the trends. So are remakes. Well, whether you like them or not, Bollywood music seems to have been bitten by the remake-remix bug. Not just that. There seems to have been a return of using and reusing songs of independent artists. The latest to join the bandwagon is the song High Rated Gabru by Guru Randhawa which has been taken in by the Varun Dhawan - Shraddha Kapoor starrer Nawabzaade. Seems the Bollywood New Songs List 2018 is making listeners swoon regardless of the genre they subscribe to.

We take a look at some of these songs which are heard playing everywhere - clubs, pubs, cabs, on your headsets and earphones. Plug in your earphones people!

Dhadak Title Track

The song caught on with listeners within hours of its release. It catapulted to number one spot in no time. Composed by Ajay - Atul and sung by Ajay and Shreya Ghoshal, the song is soft, sweet and laced with deep feelings of love. It takes you on a tide with low and high tunes coming one after another. We know you love it when Ajay goes high with “Jo Meri Manzilon Ko Jaati Hai….”. It sure gives us goosebumps!!! The song has helped further in the anticipation of the film Dhadak, a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat, releasing on July 20. Ajay - Atul were the composers of the original and it seems, they have tried to bring along the magic to Dhadak as well. Kudos to them for making the title track different from the Sairat one.

Tera Ghata (Gajendra Verma)

I remember how back in college when the guy released his single ‘Emptiness’, rumors went around of his suicide post recording the song. Well, Gajendra Verma is very much alive and kicking!! The video of the song is a rage on YouTube with close to a million likes! At #2 on the Bollywood Hit Songs List, the melancholic song seems to have resonated with listeners. Yeah, heartbreak stings and it stings badly!! But, hey, it`s your loss! “Iss Mein Tera Ghata, Mera Kuch Nahi Jata”!! The next time your heartbreaker taunts you or calls you weak, just say - “Tera Ghata, Mera Kuch Nahi Jata!” We can’t thank Gajendra Verma enough for it!

Zingaat - Dhadak

Well yes, we all have our own dance videos on this one!! One of the most energetic songs, Zingaat is a wonderful composition with the same tunes but different lyrics or may be translated ones. The song has authentic Rajasthani tones with such an amazing intro - “Kesariya Maro Balam, Padharo Mhare Country”. Though the song has its critics with many believing that the original Marathi beats and the true to the soul picturization have been compromised heavily to accommodate Bollywood choreographed naach-gaana, Zingaat, like the original Marathi song, has managed to make people get up and dance. The lyrics seem especially relevant for weddings! Dance your feet off in baraat on this song and you are sure to love it at least then!

Kar Har Maidan Fateh - Sanju

Time and again, we have some uplifting beats from Bollywood. And when it is Sukhwinder Singh, you do know that you will be forced to get up from your couch and push yourself to your limits. Shreya Ghoshal and Sukhwinder Singh are all set to inspire you with soul-stirring lyrics by Shekhar Astitva. The song has been composed by Vikram Montrose. If you are all buckling down under pressure, feeling hopeless, and lack motivation, listen to this song and you will find some courage to push those boundaries you feel you are shackled in. Oh, how wonderfully do the lines touch us - “Ghayal parinda hai tu, Dikhla de zinda hai tu, Baaqi hai tujhme hausla, Tere junoon ke aage, Ambar panaahe maange, Kar daale tu jo faisla.”

Heeriye - Race 3

Yeah, most were neither impressed with the music nor the film. However, thankfully, this one song stands out. Apart from a sexy Jacqueline Fernandez dancing her way to a pole, we have some amazing vocals by Neha Bhasin and Deep Money who wrote and sung songs like Lak Tera and Dope Shope. It can make you groove as well as have some fun time dancing with your partner. Meet Bros have composed some great music and well, that seems to have worked in this particular song, at least. Thank God for that! Because, in all likelihood, that’s what made the song occupy the #5 spot in the Bollywood Hit Songs List 2018.

High Rated Gabru - Nawabzaade

The guy is on a roll with back to back hits and concerts all over the country. Well, he gave the audience what they need - party numbers, romantic songs (Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani) and more. I was never a fan of this song until I heard it played on a loop on the bus while on a trip to Bhutan with friends. Since then, it has become a song of memories more than anything else. I can still listen to this song on loop. And now, because of its enormous popularity, they have used it in the movie Nawabzaade. In fact, Varun and Shraddha dancing on it seem to be the first look of the film!! And yes, they have put in Neha Kakkar as the female singer. She’s like the queen of remakes, no?

Tareefan - Veere Di Wedding

The song has its critics too, especially for the video where men are seen objectified. Well, that seems to have worked for the market. Sung and composed by Badshah, we have good bass and scintillating tunes. And the big surprise? The lyrics seem perfectly coordinated and the beats match well too. Well, isn’t that what led to the reprise version too. Yeah, it’s that kind of song which you can play in clubs as well as to your loved one, the reprise one, at least.

Bom Diggy Diggy - Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

Another song which was used in the film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, it became a rage soon on YouTube as well as with the film version. A perfect party song, you can have a blast with it. Though released months ago, the song still retains its position in the Top 10 Bollywood hits. You can have all the fun you want with it.

O Saathi - Baaghi 2

You can’t beat Atif Aslam that easily, can you? The man has been scintillating listeners with his music year after year for more than a decade. This song is a romantic number with some sad, melancholic tunes and more. The rising and flowing tempo is beautiful enough and can make you swoon over it for long. Yes, it can also be a remedy for heartbreak or the dreaded long distance relationships.

Buzz (Aastha Gill, Badshah)

Another party number with some sensuous thrown in, it has caught on with listeners within days of its release. Well, the song does have some old world charm as well as modern beats. So, well, no wonder it can be amazing for both the pre and post-millennials. The rap by Badshah might be a bit objectionable and out of place as well. Blame Aastha Gill and her amazing voice for it!

Aaya Na Tu (Arjun Kanungo, Momina)

Yes, both of them have already secured a place in our hearts with their amazing vocals and videos, most of all. Arjun Kanungo has collaborated with amazing artists like Sonal Chauhan in the past. And this time we have Coke Studio sensation Momina Mustehsan. The song and its video have some deep, somber tunes as well as lyrics and the video is equally heart-touching giving them a place in the Top 10 Hits of 2018. Well, we sure love to see such independent artists! Seems they have made a comeback.

Let us know if you feel the same way we do. Which of these artists do you like? And which of these songs would you listen to on a loop?
