The power-packed ensemble cast of Dil Dhadkne Do seems to have over-ridden the film, directed and co-written by Zoya Akhtar. The extravagant lifestyle and tastes of a family steeped in hypocrisy but seeking to find ways to solve their own problems are the focus of the film. The drama of such a dysfunctional family may be clichéd, but it fails to make the audience relate to it. Plus, the duration of the film makes it tedious for the viewers.
The only breather is the chemistry between Ranveer Singhand Anushka Sharma which makes us fall in love with them. The music is refreshing and Anushka has shone through her brilliant performance in the film, even when it was a cameo. But so many actors clamoring to find something to do in such a multifarious film can take away the zeal and that is what has happened with the film. You can watch it for the sizzling chemistry between Anushka and Ranveer since their last in Ladies vs Ricky Behl.
