A majority of Bollywood actors are known to love football and they play the sport whenever they get a chance from their busy schedule. Being a contact sport, football is a great stress buster and helps people to remain fit and active.

Many actors are also known to own or co-own football clubs in the Indian Super League, a men`s professional football league in India, and play for the All Stars Football Club.

As the knockouts (elimination matches) in the FIFA World Cup 2018 concludes and the quarterfinals are set to start from July 6, we have listed eleven Bollywood actors, their love for football and their favorite team in the FIFA World Cup 2018.

After the tremendous success of ‘Sanju’, Ranbir Kapoor is now indulging in his passion for football by watching the FIFA World Cup 2018 and was rooting for his favorite team – Argentina. The co-owner of Mumbai City Football Club hoped the South American country to lift the World Cup, which remained an unfulfilled wish after the team was eliminated in the knockout stage. He also wished the sport to become as popular in India as it is in Argentina and Brazil.

Bobby Deol – Brazil

After redeeming his stardom post the success of ‘Race 3’, Bobby Deol is busy watching and following the World Cup and is cheering for Brazil to win the cup. However, he feels that it’s difficult to predict the victor team, as underdogs are emerging as dark horses this year … and Iceland is amongst the underdogs.

John Abraham – Germany

After the launch of its trailer and a song, the buzz around ‘Satyameva Jayate’ is escalating as the movie inches closer to its August 15 release date. Although lead actor and producer John Abraham is busy with the film’s promotions, he is still managing time to catch up with his favorite sport. Though he believed that Germany was among the favorites to win the World Cup again, the owner of NorthEast United FC hopes to see an underdog, an African nation, lift the cup.

Amit Sadh – France

Amit Sadh is all soaked in sporty spirit, not only for the reason that he will be seen in the upcoming historical sports drama ‘Gold’ that’s going to release on August 15, but also because of the FIFA World Cup. He is supporting France as it’s a young team with diligent players. His favorites for 2018 World Cup are Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, Brazil and underdog Columbia.

The ‘Mubarakaan’ star has a pretty long list when it comes to naming a favorite team. He is rooting for Belgium, Argentina, and England but he thinks that France can emerge as the dark horse and be a spoilsport to the other teams’ dreams of taking the World Cup home. Sadly for him, that’s what exactly happened when France defeated Messi’s Argentina to qualify into Quarter Finals.

Kartik Aaryan – Portugal

Although the ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ actor supported Portugal as he is a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, his hopes ended in disappointment after the team was eliminated losing to Uruguay. He believes that Croatia is going to emerge as a dark horse and surprise everyone with their performance. With brilliant players such as Luca and Ivan Rakitic in its team, Croatia is going to give other teams a tough competition, he thinks. The actor has been playing the sport since his childhood and was the captain of his college football club. He now plays for the All Stars Football Club.

Ayushmann Khurrana – Germany

The ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ actor named his favorite team Germany and rooted for his favorite team until it was out of the World Cup after losing to South Korea. The elimination of Germany was a real shocker to many as it looked invincible with its top-line performers and was expected to defend the Winner of the 2014 World Cup title.
