The two-decade-long case has finally come to an end. The actor was accused of killing two blackbucks during the shoot of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in 1998. The actor was present in the Jodhpur High Court along with his co-star, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre, who were also involved in the case. A total of three cases were filed against the actor along with a case of Arms Act. The argument was completed in the trial court on 28 March 2018 and the Chief Judicial Magistrate Dev Kumar Khatri had to announce the judgment today. The hearing was started from 10:30 this morning. Previously, the actor was acquitted but this time, luck did not favor him. However, Saif Ali Khan and other actors were acquitted from all the case registered against them. Salman has been found guilty under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act.

Talking about the 1998 blackbuck case, the actor along with his co-stars and a local resident, Dushyant Singh, went for a ride in a gypse during their shoot. Meanwhile, they saw a herd of blackbuck and Salman, who was driving the gypsy, immediately shot and killed two blackbucks. Blackbucks are protected under the Indian Wildlife Act as they are endangered species. When the village people saw and followed them, they left the blackbucks there and escaped.

The people registered a case against the actors but later the actor was acquitted by the high court. Later the case was again started when a disappeared witness of these cases reappeared. The Government of Rajasthan then appealed to the Supreme Court against the decision made by High Court. According to the government lawyer, the maximum punishment for this a six years jail.
