An actor, who was majorly categorized as an action or a comedy expert in a career spanning for nearly 3 decades, Akshay Kumar has reinvented himself in the past 3 years with making successful movies on social patriotic issues. Moreover, all his recent movies also having a major entertainer or masala commercial touch which has brought large number audience into the theatres. Thus, at 50 when some superstars of his age or even some young generation actors are failing to make an impact with their movies because of the stereotypical roles, Akshay Kumar has successfully reinvented himself to continue the legacy of his superstar stardom by giving back to back five 100 Crores movies.

Toilet Ek Prem Katha, 2017 –
Toilet Ek Prem Katha was a comedy-drama romantic film which revolved around the theme of the importance of public toilets and the need to eradicate open defecation. The movie with Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Padnekar in lead roles and directed by Shree Narayan Singh was a super hit at box office collecting 132 Crores in India, making it the highest grosser ever for Akshay Kumar.
Jolly LLB 2 –
Jolly LLB 2 was a black comedy movie and a sequel to its first part Jolly LLB released in February last year. The movie was basically a courtroom drama which had Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Saurabh Sukhla and Anu Kapoor in lead roles. The movie though being fully commercial in its theme and story dealt with the strong social message of eradicating corruption and collected 117.24 at its box office run in India.
Another courtroom drama, Rustom was a fictional story based on the true incident of Naval Officer K.M Nanavati and businessman Prem Ahuja. A period thriller revolving around the mystery of murder whose prime suspect is Naval Officer Rustom Pavri was again a super hit at Box Office collecting 127 Crores. Though the movie was criticized by a section for diluting the historical facts, Akshay Kumar did a commendable job of playing the role for which he was also awarded the National Film Awards for best actor.
Housefull 3 –
This is the only movie in the list where Akshay Kumar played his comfort zone i.e. comedy. An in and out comedy movie Housefull 3 was the third movie of the Housefull franchise and despite average reviews from the critics again grossed 100 Crores at the box office in India collecting 103 Crores.
Airlift was again a true story based on a patriotic touch. The movie with Akshay and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles revolved around a real story of a Kuwait based Indian origin businessman Ranjit Katyal (Akshay Kumar) who evacuated 1,70,000 Indians from Kuwait to India when the former country was attacked and captured by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. The movie was a big hit a box office and critics also loved it. The movie collected 122 Crores at box office India and was declared a super hit.
