In a conversation with Vir Sanghvi, author and journalist, movie maker Mira Nair spoke cleared all the hush-hush about how and why she passed an offer to direct a Harry Potter film. Deep in melancholy, she resorted to reading. She read the novel`TheNamesake`written by Jhumpa Lahiri which was about the death of a parent. Hence she decided to make a film on it. " I then got an offer to direct Harry Potter 4." said the director in a "matter-of-fact` way.

Adding that she asked her son about the decision as her son was obsessed with Harry Potter.

Like mother like son!

Nair has won applauds for her work on the films such as Salaam Bombay, Mississippi Masala, and Monsoon Wedding.

The first two installments of Harry Potter were directed by Chris Columbus, while this year`s Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. Order of Phoenix being directed by Mike Newell and the rest by eminent director David Yates.
