As Friedrich Nietzsche would put it, “Without Music, Life Would Be a Mistake”, music from Coke Studio is what we can’t imagine living without, right? Since its first season, Coke Studio Pakistan has given us beautiful masterpieces that we love to cherish every time we plug in our earphones.
Coke Studio is so intriguing that today it has become a television series across India, Pakistan, Middle East, Africa and is still expanding. Truth to be told, Music Surpasses Language!
We, at Fresh Box Office, are no different and are ardent fans of Coke Studio as well, when it comes to India & Pakistan. Here are ten favourite soulful renditions which never fail to make our day and transcend us into another realm!
Starting our list is the extraordinary Persian song ‘Man Aamadeh Am’, meaning ‘I have come to you’ sung by the multi-talented Atif Aslam and the gorgeous Gul Panra. This song is subtle and refreshing at the same time with the backdrop of Persian instruments, it literally takes you back in time of the kings and pharaohs.
9.Sammi Meri Waar by Quratulain Baloch and Umair Jaswal:
Probably one of the most loved songs of Coke Studio, it received warmest response by people across the world! Quratulain Baloch’s voice adds just the right element to it, hear it for yourself to believe.
8. Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo by Farida Khanum:
The Queen of Ghazals herself singing one of the most beloved ghazals of all-time! Do we need to say more?
7. Hina Ki Khushbu by Samra Khan & Asim Azhar:
Transforming an old-school romantic song to a jazzy number with an added flavour of sensuality? Coke Studio Pakistan does it sleek! ‘Janina Main Toh Duur….’ And we can’t stop singing!
6. Shamaan Pai Gaiayaan by Rachel Viccaji & Kashif Ali:
They say the most beautiful songs are those which talk about pain. This heart-wrenching song stands by it. The transition, the lyrics and the music takes you deep inside your own heart, to those unopened windows.
5. Dholna by Atif Aslam:
Yes, this guy makes on our list twice! He has given so many soulful songs that it’s unfair to leave any of them out. But here comes our most favourite amongst them. A semi-classical, Sufi touch to the song makes you imprint on the song for the first time itself!
4. Garaj Baras by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Ali Azmat:
An electric number that’s originally recomposed from a Sufi song is just what you must play when you’re feeling sloppy. We bet, it will just blow your mind away! All that growling followed by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice in transition is just too much to handle!
3. Baliye (Laung Gawacha) by Quratulain Balouch & Haroon Shahid:
A power-packed Punjabi song that is enough to get you up on your feet for some dancing and even head banging! Brace yourselves for this Tadka!
2. Panchi. Jal featuring Quratulain Balouch:
Another Quratulain Balouch’s special, this song is a remake of ‘Panchi’ by Jal and is, undoubtedly better than the original! Period. There! We said it!
